70 watts @ 20 mph
This is a 70 watt mini wind turbine. It was designed for LOW wind areas. If it is turning at all it is producing 12 volts.
Depending upon what kind of load (higher loads require more wind to begin turning) you have hooked to it, it will start turning in as little as 8-9 mph winds. I consider 15-16 mph winds to be perfect and and 20 mph winds to be maximum survivable conditions.
WHY USE Micro Wind Turbine ? (as against regular wind turbines)
Regular wind turbines are designed for large electricity production hence occupy large areas of land. These cannot operate in places where the wind speed is below 10m/s. Regular wind turbines can ONLY operate given wind-speeds between 10m/s and 25 m/s .
On the other hand, Micro wind turbines have been designed to operate with low wind speeds (above 2 m/s). Further, these do not require large land areas. These are installable in smaller places due to their small size and modular construction. Smaller places like apartment-balconies, building-terraces and of course the small farm-houses.
